Keith has been painting professionally for nearly 30 years. He was born in Essendon, Victoria but spent much of his early life on the old goldfields of Castlemaine, Chewton and Fryerstown. During this time he developed his deep love of the Australian bush, and his ability to observe and retain the details of his bush surroundings has served as a springboard for his landscapes.

After a brief but undistinguished career as a teacher and librarian Keith began to paint in 1978. Although basically self-taught, his landscapes were greatly influenced by the work of the Australian traditional impressionists such as Streeton, Roberts, Heysen, and more lately by the work of Leonard Long. His landscapes are primarily in oils, worked with brush and knife, and usually derived from sketches done on site. Sizes range from large boardroom paintings down to detailed miniatures. Collectors have eagerly sought after these paintings for many years, and Keith still regards this genre as basic to his artistic output.

In recent years Keith has been increasingly drawn to a wider variety of subject matter, and to the challenge of portraying these subjects through a realist technique increasingly focusing on detail. Media used has also been increased and now includes acrylics, watercolour and ink.

Keith has had many successful solo exhibitions over the years. His paintings are now in private collections in over 20 countries, and in many corporate collections including AMP, RAAF, Coles-Myer, SIO, etc. In 2002 a painting he did commemorating the Australian SAS action in Operation Thisop in Afghanistan was released as a limited edition print.
